April 2012 Reunion with Asheville N.C. Bodies
By Gary Handy 32 KCCH, Director of Membership
What is an ideal ingredient for “membership”? Most would say large Reunion classes. Some would say a huge attendance at Lodge of Perfection meetings. Maybe members who are prompt with payment of dues each year.
True, those items are extremely important to an organization’s strength and longevity but what about the needs of each member of that group which comprises the membership as a whole?
Membership is to be a part of something, to belong somewhere and to feel needed within that group. When I think about membership, those things seem to resonate with me. Everyone should feel as if they are an active member of the Valley’s membership team, because they are. We should try to live by the principals of the “Brother To Brother” program and when you are in your Lodges, remember that you are an Ambassador of Scottish Rite and your words and actions can promote good or cause harm. To coin a phrase that my Grandfather used quite often “If you can’t say something nice, just don’t say nothing at all”. Always remember you are a Master Mason and to walk and act as such.
Remember our Reunion will be on the road this Spring heading to the Valley of Asheville as a courtesy. The Reunion is at their new setting in Black Mountain Lodge No. 663, 105 Rock Church Street. This reunion is done totally in a Blue Lodge setting and should be extremely interesting to see. The dates will be Saturday, April 14 & Saturday 28, 2012. The host hotel will be the Comfort Inn Suites 585 Highway 9, Black Mountain N C and more information can be obtained by contacting the hotel at 828-669-9959 or the Valley’s secretary at (336) 275-3579 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Always remember, you can make a difference but only you can ensure that the difference is positive and that is a tremendous responsibility.
